If it feels like you’ve developed more personal power over the course of 2024, that’s because you have. Last year was an 8 year (2 + 0 + 2 + 4 = 8), and that signified expansion in many areas of life, including financial prosperity, career success, and growth and development. According to the Tarot, 2024 was also a Justice year—one that required us to maintain emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental balance.
Following suit, 2025 is a 9 year, which signifies the end of a complete cycle—a time to reflect, let go of the past, and prepare for new beginnings. This coming year will be one of completions, transitions, and transformation, so we can expect significant changes. Before the reset of 2026, we’ll need to find closure on old issues to move forward. One note: this will also be a time of emotional ups and downs as we process endings and prepare for new starts.
Based on ancient traditions in Egypt, Babylonia, Greece, India, China and Assyria, numerology is the study of the mystical relationship between numbers and coinciding life events and energies. Whether you follow numerology or are brand new to it, I can share the accuracy of 2024 for me personally.
Facing Injustice: An Inside Job
Early last year, a family member judged me harshly for my values, for the work I do and for my existence as a queer, non-binary person. On a much larger scale, the speaker’s agency I own was duped by a right-wing extremist group, which landed me and several others in my life on the big screen, in a mockumentary that we did not consent to be in. It left us feeling violated and fearful, unable to decipher who to trust. Despite having to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket for personal security and specialized health care due to the ordeal, we survived those 8 months—and I believe we emerged even stronger, both internally and relationally.
I also launched my first book in the midst of it all (career success) and was invited to be a keynote speaker and to facilitate a series of three retreats starting in April 2025 (financial prosperity).
Beyond the emotional sludge that I felt drown by for much of 2024, I can now see it clearly as preparation of the fertile soil needed for my next cycle. A training ground in “emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental balance,“ if you will.
Mid-year, while on the West Coast, my partner and I got engaged. Being able to focus on our love for one another, our relationship and our future together felt like a natural counterbalance to all that was swirling around us.
Revisiting What’s True
Currently, I’m resting my mind, and my body is healing from top surgery—a euphoric transformation I’ve desired for nearly 20 years.
December and January feel like the right time for introspective inquiry. I’ve decided to double down on my shadow self—revisiting The Work of Byron Katie in Loving What Is. Though it can be difficult, I can already feel less tension in my body as a result of deciphering what’s true and turning things around on myself to gain clarity.
As I create more space, my creativity returns, and I’m energized by the idea of my shifting work in the world. (I’m designing a new Cuddle Therapy Retreat Immersive for August; more on that soon.) This is the healing work that brings me joy and fulfillment because I have the honor of holding and witnessing others in their emotionally transformative experiences.
The Art of Conscious Completion
I wonder what more may find its way to completion—since it feels like so much fully cycled last year? What transitions might each of us encounter? And what kind of transformation can we anticipate? While we cannot know exactly what lies in store for us, we can rely on surprises, shake-ups and plot twists to guide us into situations that are for our highest good. Though, they may never feel that way. We’ll also have opportunities to compost inner narratives that aren’t helpful anymore (or never were).
“The more grounded within yourself you are, the more receptive you’ll be to the new storylines that want to emerge.”
— Chani Nicholas
As we step into this 9 year, I invite you to embrace both the endings and the possibilities that await. Let's approach this transitional period with gentleness and curiosity, knowing that each completion makes space for something new to emerge. Whether through shadow work, physical transformation, or relationship deepening, we're all being called to shed what no longer serves us.
In doing so, we're not just closing chapters and ending cycles, we're consciously participating in our own evolution, opening ourselves to the wisdom that arrives when we dare to let go. Do you have to know how or when? Can you practice being more flexible? Are you able to see how so much of our lives is fabrication—and be more mindful of your words and actions this year?
Stay present with what's ending, while holding space for all that's yet to unfold; that is heart warrior work.
